As a former McDonald’s team member, Abby would donate whatever she could to the Ronald McDonald House never thinking she would be needing to use the services RMHC provides. That all changed on August 27th, 2021
At just 28 weeks and 4 days pregnant, Abby diagnosed with PPROM (preterm premature rupture of membranes) causing her to go into preterm labor. This was a very scary experience for her and her family. Thankfully, doctors were able to successfully stop her labor… but not for long. A short 6 days later, on September 2nd, her daughter Phoenix was born weighing only 2lbs and 15oz. This is when her personal journey with RMH began.
Abby, Tyler, and their 9-month-old son Noah, from Muskegon, Michigan, checked-in to the Ronald McDonald House Charities West Michigan preparing for a long road of growth for their baby girl. Each day Phoenix proves her strength as she grows. She is doing great in the NICU and is expected to discharge in the coming months. Abby shared with us, “I love the way that the RMH staff treat my 9-month-old son and how they make our stay feel like home. We have a lovely group of amazing staff both at the hospital and the Ronald McDonald House helping us on this journey. I am beyond grateful for RMHCWM.”
