As a Family Services Volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House you make a direct

In-House Meal Maker *New position!*
Our In-House Meal Maker volunteers will help prepare warm, nutritious meals for families staying at Ronald McDonald House Charities West Michigan. This allows us to provide families with consistent, comforting meals throughout the week.
Meal Maker volunteers should be willing to commit to a weekly or biweekly shift for a minimum of 6 months.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Preparing meals in the RMHCWM kitchen using provided recipes and ingredients
- Following food safety and kitchen sanitation standards
- Maintaining a clean and organized kitchen space
- Storing and labeling prepared food properly
- Assisting with meal setup and cleanup
To ensure the safety of families at our organization, Meal Maker volunteers must:
- Pass a criminal background check
- Complete ServSafe certification (provided by RMHCWM)
- Be at least 18 years old
- Demonstrate reliability and ability to work independently or with minimal supervision
Time Commitment:
3 hours (or more if desired) per week, with a flexible but consistent schedule.
Receptionist Volunteer
Receptionist Volunteers are responsible for supporting front office functions through a variety of clerical and data entry functions.
Responsibilities include:
- Greet guest families and visitors
- Answering and handling incoming phone calls
- Complete outgoing phone calls
- Organize or sort files and donated items
- Assist with family paperwork and filing
- Assist with mailings, printing, stocking, organizing, and other duties as required
Due to the nature of our organization, Receptionsist volunteers must:
- Pass a criminal background check
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Complete volunteer training as needed
Time Commitment:
3 hours (or more if desired) per week, with a flexible but consistent schedule.
In-House Volunteer
In House volunteers are responsible for supporting the smooth operation of the House by performing a variety of House related duties.
Responsibilities include:
- Greet guest families and visitors
- Supplemental front desk support as needed
- Organizing or sorting files and donated items
- Completing cleaning and organization tasks
- Completing House laundry
- Resetting family rooms
- Assist with mailings, printing, stocking, and other duties as required
Due to the nature of our organization, In House volunteers must:
- Pass a criminal background check
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Complete volunteer training as needed
- Ability to walk up and down stairs and lift up to 30 lbs.
Time Commitment:
3 hours (or more if desired) per week, with a flexible but consistent schedule.
Shuttle Driver Volunteers
Shuttle Driver volunteers are responsible for transporting families to and from the hospital safely and timely. Shuttle Driver volunteers should be willing to commit to a weekly or biweekly shift for a minimum of 12 months.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Transporting RMHWM families to and from local hospitals
- Assisting in setting up car seats should families be transporting children *As required
- Performing general driving related tasks as require by RMHCWM (Examples include delivering or pick up product to/from other agencies, fueling vehicles, etc.)
- Other various tasks as required
Due to the sensitive nature of our organization, Shuttle Driver volunteers must:
- Pass a criminal background check
- Submit driver’s license information and pass a Motor Vehicle Records check
- Be at least 21 years old

3 hours (or more if desired) per week, with a flexible but consistent schedule.
