On March 23, 1990, Ronald McDonald House Charities West Michigan (RMHCWM) opened it doors to families with hospitalized children. This year we celebrate 32 years of providing care, comfort, and a free place to stay for families.

“Celebrating our 32 year history, as with any milestone event, is a time for reflection. Our kitchen is full of photos of children and families that have made this RMH their home. Each has a unique story to tell….of worry, uncertainty, and grief but also of courage, hope and resilience.  Our purpose is to provide everything they need – warm food, a comfortable place to sleep, rides, and more – all during one of the most difficult times in our history. As we mark our birthday, we also celebrate the brave families, the selfless volunteers, the generous donors and the loving community that is created every day at RMHC West Michigan. It is why we are here.” – Ellen Carpenter, RMHC West Michigan Executive Director

Over the last 32 years we have cared for thousands of families from all over the world. We have worked with our referrals partners to be a resource and free place to stay for out-of-town families when they needed it most.  The community has stepped up during a global pandemic to ensure we could continue to provide exceptional services. We provide essential amenities including a comfortable bed and warm meals to families with sick children because we know that families heal better together.

Thank you to those who have stood by our side over the last 32 years and to those who will continue walk with us on our mission of helping families with hospitalized children.
