2021 Hero of The House Award Presented to Keith Berg

Grand Rapids, MI – The Ronald McDonald House of Western Michigan awards McDonald’s Owner/Operator and Board Member, Keith Berg, with the Hero of the House award.

The Hero of the House Award is presented to an individual who has exhibited a loyal involvement and dedication to furthering the mission of RMHWM through unique and collaborative avenues. Keith Berg is an exceptional example of a Hero of the House.

“Keith encompasses everything we value in a Board Member, RMHWM advocate and friend. He is knowledgeable, patient, and persistent – with our mission always the focus. For 10 years he attended countless board meetings, challenged the organization and other board members when necessary, but most importantly advocated for what was best for the House and the families we serve,” shares Ellen Carpenter, RMWHM Executive Director.

For decades the Berg Family has been an integral part of the Ronald McDonald House of Western Michigan. In 1990 Keith’s father, Larry Berg, McDonalds Owner/Operator, was part of the opening of the Ronald McDonald House of Western Michigan. For the decades following, Keith and his brother, Ken, watched their dad support the House through McDonald’s stores and RMHWM events. Today Keith and Ken continue the legacy of support.

“I am honored and humbled [to receive this award]. Ten years seems like it was just yesterday,” shared Keith upon accepting the award. “When you give yourself to something you often get the same back. What the House has done for me is priceless and for that I am thankful. I am never going away from the House even though I’m stepping off the board and executive team. I will always be part of the House and support it going forward.”

The Ronald McDonald House of Western Michigan is truly grateful for the Berg Family and all they have sacrificed and dedicated to the House over the years. Congratulations to Keith for receiving this inaugural Hero of the House award.
